CLIENT PROJECTS

Project : Wild Horse Brewing Co.

Wild Horse Brewing Company is situated in the picturesque town of Llandudno, on the North Coast of Wales. The brewery was established in 2015 by Dave Faragher and in their own words started off “nano-sized, with a tiny 1/2 barrel working plant!” However, with their excellent range of beers being very well received, their expansion to a bigger plant soon became a necessity . In early 2016, Wild Horse Brewery took delivery of a beautiful brand-new state of the art 10 barrel brew house. To complement the brew house, and with a desire to be able to mill their malts freshly for every brew, Wild Horse Brewing Company got in touch with malt milling experts, Alan Ruddock Engineering Ltd. Following a site visit, we were able to present the brewery with a range of options and preliminary layout drawings. The system decided upon includes the AR 2000/175/2 Precision Malt Mill, two AR elevators, a grist case and an AR conveyor. 25 kg sacks can be manually fed into the mill which has a capacity of 500kg/hr. The grist is then gently transported to the grist case ready for brewing. When ready to mash in, at the press of the touch screen control, the grist is then gently transported to the mash tun in perfect condition at the exact flow rate required.

Following the installation Dave Faragher, owner and Head Brewer commented. “I’m very impressed with the mill and grain handling equipment. The engineering is top quality and it’s been a pleasure doing business with A. R. Engineering from the initial quote right through to installation.  The quality of the crush is excellent, the system produces no dust, and the flow control between the grist case and hydrator works really well to deliver a consistent flow of malt. It also looks great too – I’ve already lost count of the number of comments I’ve had about the paint job on the mill!”
